2012 Super Lawyers and Rising Star
Pryor Johnson Carney Karr Nixon, P.C. congratulates our 2012 Super Lawyers! They are: Peter Pryor, David Karr, Scott Nixon, John Paddock and Craig Sargent. In addition, Irving Johnson, who has retired from the firm, was named 2012 Super Lawyer. Super Lawyers are those outstanding attorneys who have attained a high degree of peer recognition and professional achievement. All six of PJCKN's Super Lawyers are (or in Mr. Johnson's case, have been) Shareholders in the firm. The candidates go through a rigorous selection process that includes a statewide nomination, independent evaluation of candidates by the attorney-led research staff at Super Lawyers, peer review of candidates by practice area and a good standing and disciplinary check.
PJCKN is also thrilled to recognize our own Rising Star, Marta Jucha! Rising Stars are those outstanding attorneys who are 40 years of age or under, or who have been practicing for 10 years or less. Candidates are nominated by other lawyers who have personally observed them in action, whether as opposing counsel or co-counsel, or through firsthand courtroom observation. The nomination process is followed by the attorney-led research team at Super Lawyers reviewing the credentials of potential candidates and assigning them points based on a set of defined evaluation criteria. Congratulations to Pryor Johnson Carney Karr Nixon's outstanding Super Lawyers and Rising Star!
Pledge To Diversity
Pryor Johnson Carney Karr Nixon, P.C. is honored to participate in the Colorado Pledge to Diversity Summer Clerkship program. Candidates come through the program's initiative, comprised of first-year law students from CU's and DU's law schools. PJCKN is pleased to announce we have matched with an outstanding candidate and we're looking forward to welcoming Morgan Robinson as a Summer Associate this year!
Jill Curry - Special Counsel
PJCKN is pleased to announce Jill Curry is now Special Counsel with the firm. Jill is a litigation attorney, currently focusing on construction litigation defense and family law. She has also practiced in the areas of civil and commercial litigation, personal injury, estate planning, probate and bankruptcy. The firm is very proud of Jill, and we're happy to have her here with our fine complement of attorneys!
Irving G. Johnson announces his retirement
Pryor Johnson Carney Karr Nixon is both proud and sad to announce the retirement of our dear friend and mentor, Irving G. Johnson.
Irving "Irnie" Johnson, one of the founding members of PJCKN, decided to follow his dream of spending more time at his beautiful property in Castle Rock. Irnie retired as of the end of September, 2011. He now has time to travel with his lovely wife, Debbie, and enjoys living the life of a gentleman rancher at home with his horses, chickens and stunning view of the mountains from his spacious veranda. We here at PJCKN wish him the best....although we'll miss him, his counsel, his wisdom and his guidance a great deal.
ABOTA Membership
PJCKN is proud to count in our firm three of our attorneys holding membership in the American Board of Trial Advocates, ABOTA. The preservation of the civil jury trial as guaranteed by the Seventh Amendment is the primary purpose of ABOTA. Membership is bestowed upon attorneys "who display skill, civility and integrity, to help younger attorneys achieve a higher level of trial advocacy and to educate the public about the vital importance of the Seventh Amendment." Membership in ABOTA is an honor, and PJCKN is proud of Peter Pryor, Irving (Irnie) Johnson and David Karr for their commitment to the work and ideals of this wonderful organization.
