Jill A. Curry
Biography
Jill Curry was born and raised in Shawnee, Kansas. She received her undergraduate degree from Kansas State University in Secondary Education with an area of concentration in English. After student teaching high school seniors in College Prep British Literature, Jill went on to attend law school at the University of Kansas School of Law, where she received her Juris Doctor in 2004. While in law school, Jill took an interest in public service. She clerked for the Douglas County Legal Aid Society and served a year-long student internship with the University of Kansas Legal Aid Society. During her year-long Elderlaw clinic, she served a one-year student internship with the Kansas Social and Rehabilitative Services, working as an intern for in-house attorney for the Adult Protective Services division, and wrote an article for publication in 60 and Over, a magazine focusing on providing information to the elderly on various legal issues. Jill served on the Student Bar Association and was a member of Women in Law, where she was active in planning law school activities and fund-raisers.
Jill’s commitment to public service continued in her law practice. After moving to Colorado and beginning her legal career, she gave her time to Metro Volunteer Lawyers and Colorado Legal Services, where she supervised law school students in pro bono legal cases. She also volunteered her time to the Rape Awareness and Prevention Program on a pro bono basis. Jill has done fundraising for breast cancer research and participated in, and finished, the 3-Day, 60-Mile Susan B. Komen Breast Cancer Walk in October of 2007.
In addition to her interest in community service, Jill has established herself as a litigation attorney. Jill has practiced in the areas of civil and commercial litigation, personal injury, estate planning, probate, bankruptcy and family law. She currently focuses on construction litigation defense, medical malpractice defense, and has continued her family law practice, establishing herself as an asset and resource to the firm in this area of practice. Jill has had many accomplishments in her practice thus far, including first-chairing her first jury trial as a second-year associate, which resulted in an impressive plaintiff’s verdict for her client.
While not working, Jill enjoys skiing, hiking and all of the activities the mountains offer, as well as national and international travel. Jill spent her first summer of law school studying law at the University of Cambridge in Cambridge, England. In addition to her studies at Cambridge, she traveled all over England, and took excursions to Scotland, France and Amsterdam. She loves music, and has played the acoustic guitar for several years.
Jill is licensed to practice law in Colorado, and has also been admitted to the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado. She is a member of the Colorado Bar Association and the Denver Women’s Bar Association.
